Cooking with Giada de Laurentiis Pt. 1

We’ve been so busy these last few weeks and now I finally have time to share with you all of our experiences. So strap on your seat belts and enjoy the ride.

If you’re a real foodie, you would have followed all of the excitement around the New York Wine & Food Festival during the 2nd week of October.

Last year, we tried to attend as many events as could without spending a bunch of money. Some of the events can get a bit pricey, but definitely worth the experience. While attending the Target’s Fun & Fit event last year, we watch Sunny Anderson and Giada de Laurentiis cook some amazing meals.

Watching these wonderful women on the stage, lit a spark within us and was our inspiration for really pursuing our love for food. Little did LaurenAsh know, that I was making a promise to myself that I’d be cooking with one of these ladies, during the same time a year from then.

This is living proof that, when you set a goal and believe in it, anything is possible.

Yes, here I am, with the famous Giada de Laurentiis, after a long day of dinner service for her guests during her “Italian Paradise Dinner” sponsored by the New York Wine & Food Festival.

Marinate on that for a bit and I share with you my journey of how I ended up here.

What’s New Our Way?!

Happy Hump Day Everyone!

You won’t believe the great things happening our way!!! *drumroll please…….* 🙂

World meet…

Enchanted Sweets is an all-natural baked goods company free from common allergens such as wheat, gluten, dairy and soy. We have just given birth to our first baby and it couldn’t smell sweeter.

Believe me it took sometime to perfect the mixtures and play around with the sweeteners and spices! But our bellies were filled with lots of love and hope for what was being born.

Every new thing needs a fairy godparent, so Ganache Cafe in Hoboken was the chosen one. Being the Supervisor, I am constantly watching customers walk away with sad faces because we do not have allergy free goodies, telling them “chin, up they’re coming” only made me stay in the kitchen longer to make these beauties.

From left to right:

Cram My Gramckers

Cinnamon and Honey flavored mini cupcake (*Ganache’s signature coffee flavor is Graham Cracker)

Ganache CocoMoco

Espresso chocolate cupcake with Ganache topping

Nana’s Puddin

Soft banana cupcake

Are you as excited as I am? Wait! There’s more!

So… the theory behind Enchanted Sweets, is to develop what your imagination creates. So the mixture of these flavors could possibly be found somewhere is, but not likely. 🙂 To spark a little something extra, we developed “Mythical Adventures”… dessert replicas of favorite foods… the first one to complete?! Hamburger and Fries.

That’s right, I said it! Mini hamburger sliders and steak fries… don’t believe me?! See the wizard’s secret potion below:

Whew! I’ve think I’ve sent you into a state of shock or even tickled your sweet tooth! My apologies! But just for kicks, here is the final display at Ganache.

Pie The Pound! #TastyThursday

Our apologies for the delay in sharing our posts! I’m sure you’ll love reading this one!

Last week, LaurenAsh picked out a new place for date night. We usually spend 10 minutes trying to figure out what we have a taste for or what is closest to where we are at that time. This particular night, she was more than excited to have pre-planned the night. Little did she know, so was I!

We hoped on the train at Grand Central and headed to Union Square (14th st). This is actually one of favorite areas in the city because it has a lot of restaurants that offer gluten-free items. Once we arrived to our location, my eyes lit up and my taste buds salivated with joy. Pizzaaaaaaaa!!!!!

I have been craving pizza for a few weeks now. It’s somewhat easy to find places that offer gluten-free pizza crust, but you’ll pay twice as much for it.

Pie by the Pound not only offered gluten-free pizza crust but also vegan options as well, not to mention all at an affordable cost.

We were simply in heaven! Within minutes we would be enjoying a hot and delicious mushroom and eggplant pizza.

Did I mention Pie by the Pound also offers an assortment of gluten-free beers?! How could I forget?! That was the perfect side item to our lovely pizza.

Not only was the pizza delicious and the brews stepped it up a notch. The fact that the environment was so welcoming and friendly should have the competition a little worried.

The staff was conversational and laid back. There was a game board table that kept guests entertained and in our case buy more beers.

Jeff, Pie by the Pound’s manager made us feel like we were having a pizza party at his house, which made the experience extremely unique. He even made sure that we fully educated in our choice of living a gluten-free lifestyle.

After we enjoyed our meal, we ordered another round and scouted the game board table. We decided on picking a game that we haven’t played before.

Bananagrams caught our attention, it seemed to be a spin on Scrabble without the board. We managed to play two rounds before the day caught up with us and we started to yawn.

We will definitely be heading back to Pie by the Pound this weekend!
Pie by the Pound… YOU’VE JUST BEEN BUDDED!!! 🙂
