Recently studies have revealed the possibility of mood-enhancing effects which are associated with some flavors. Karina Martinez-Mayorga, Ph.D., leader of a research team that has been studying the effects of flavors on mood, has said “Molecules in chocolate, a variety of berries and foods containing omega-3 fatty acids have shown positive effects on mood. In turn, our studies show that some commonly used flavor components are structurally similar to valproic acid.”

Oily fish such as sardines, tuna, trout, herring, salmon and mackerel are rich in Omega-3 fatty acids that can help to enhance mood and improve memory.
Complex carbohydrates such as wholemeal pasta, potatoes and bread have been associated with relaxation.
So…on the menu tonight will be a Grilled Salmon with a berry chutney served with red-skin mashed potatoes or maybe a butter-garlic pasta. For dessert? Chocolate-covered Strawberries!
